This period covers the second generation of Silver Wing pilots and they all trained on the T41, T37B and T38A trainers.
Some footage of how training took place in 1972 is shown in the 7min video
In 1970, the Belgian Air Force renewed a training agreement with the USAF allowing new Belgian student pilots to enter Undergraduate Pilote Training (UPT) in the USA as of 1971 with Class 72-02. This agreement ran till 1981 with UPT Class 82-02. The number of trainees was not comparable to the huge numbers of the first generation. Most Belgian military pilots received their training in Belgium and those sent overseas where limited. The UPT students were integrated into USAF classes at various UPT Training bases and their numbers averaged from 02 to 04 Belgians per class. Pilot training was provided on the Cessna T41 (12hrs), Cessna T37 (80hrs) and Northrop T38A (110 hrs). In total 43 pilots earned their Silver Wings over this decade.
